Astropay
Cross Border Payment Solutions
Founded in 2009, Astropay is a London-based international payment services leader. What started with the AstroPay Card rapidly expanded across LATAM, Asia, Africa, and Europe, with extensive expertise in international payment solutions for businesses.
Its deep knowledge of cross border payment services has made AstroPay an efficient and reliable solution for both merchants and end users. With offices in the UK and Latin America, the company is well-positioned as a trusted global payment infrastructure provider.
AstroPay's mission is to take FinTech to the next level by making it easier and more efficient for users and businesses to access global fintech services.
Operating across dozens of markets means navigating the regulations of several international payment solutions. AstroPay needed to collect, organize, and process compliance documentation from a growing network of merchant vendors.
The existing process was fragmented. Vendors had no unified way to submit required documentation, and AstroPay had no centralized tool to review, track, or act on submissions, which also created bottlenecks for their internal teams.
As the company scaled, this gap became increasingly costly in both time and regulatory risk. The core challenge was building something simple enough for vendors to use without friction, yet robust enough to handle the volume and complexity of global compliance data and secure international payment processing.

Capicua built a compliance portal that gives AstroPay full control over onboarding and documentation review processes. We developed an intuitive interface with structured 'cards' (customizable templates from diverse categories) that vendors fill out and submit for review.
Vendors can log in, complete the required forms, and attach relevant documentation such as bank statements and tax forms. Submissions flow directly into AstroPay's database, and relevant institutions receive the filings automatically for approval.
On the technical side, the project combined React for the front end and Java for the back end, with Amazon Aurora's relational database and AWS cloud computing infrastructure ensuring the reliability and scalability that the cross border payment solution demands.
- Stack: React for the front-end with Java for the back-end.
- Design: Custom UX/UI design for vendor compliance portal.
- Database: Amazon Aurora relational database and AWS cloud infrastructure.
- System: Customizable template system for documentation categories.
- Workflows: Automated submission and institutional routing workflow.

AstroPay gained a centralized, automated system for managing vendor compliance documentation within its cross border global payment solution, shortening approval timelines and reducing the burden on internal compliance teams.
Vendors now have a clear, guided experience for submitting required documentation, which has improved completion rates and reduced back-and-forth. AstroPay can process submissions at a scale that matches its global ambitions.
The company continues to push the limits of what's possible in cross border payment services, and this project is a key pillar of its strategy to speed up approvals and grow its merchant network without a proportional increase in operational overhead.
- Speed: Faster vendor onboarding and approval cycles.
- Compliance: Centralized compliance workflows replacing fragmented manual processes.
- Scalability: Scalable infrastructure aligned with AstroPay's global growth trajectory.
- Experience: Improved vendor completion rates through a guided submission experience.
- Automation: Reduced internal compliance team workload through automation.
