BITA is a German Index Technology Company that offers infrastructure for systematic investment strategies. As the world's first end-to-end provider of index design, development, calculation, and dissemination, it serves asset managers, banks, and institutional investors.
Its products for fintech in investment management include BITA Core, an all-in-one platform for indexing and investment strategies, and BITA Ace, a real-time calculation engine. These tools allow clients to seamlessly transition from strategy ideation to back-testing and live calculation, reducing dependence on legacy vendors and complex tools.
BITA handled vast amounts of financial data and supported highly sophisticated investment workflows, but its front end and user experience hadn't kept pace with its capabilities. Analysts, portfolio managers, and strategists were working with an interface that required too much technical knowledge to navigate effectively.
The company also lacked a pre-built data export system, forcing users to handle data extraction manually. This made building fintech investment strategies a time-consuming bottleneck for teams that depend on fast, reliable access to data and performance metrics.
BITA needed a front-end rebuild and UX overhaul to meet the performance demands of enterprise financial data while remaining genuinely intuitive for non-technical users. The challenge: sophisticated functionality, simple interface, no performance compromises.
Capicua built BITA's front end and UX from scratch, using React for the interface layer and Node.js for the supporting back-end integrations. Our design and engineering work was driven by the north star of making complex financial data navigable for all users.
We integrated HighCharts to render professional-grade charts and visualizations for big data investment management. Chart performance was a priority; with large data sets running in real time, rendering speed and responsiveness were as important as visual quality.
On the strategy side, we delivered a clean, straightforward pre-built export system interface that lets users pull the data they need without jumping through hoops. The result was as capable as BITA's underlying technology, without demanding technical fluency.
