By connecting shippers with a trusted network of transport companies, FR8Star provides access to oversized-load capacity and streamlines logistics through cloud-based tools for shipment localization, scheduling optimization, and fleet management.
Operating in a traditionally slow-to-digitize industry, FR8Star aims to replace outdated workflows with user-friendly software, benefiting drivers, dispatchers, and shippers alike.
Freight management faces the challenge of presenting vast amounts of data while maintaining a fast, user-friendly interface for logistics professionals under time pressure.
In this context, FR8Star needed to enhance its platform because the existing interface had friction points that slowed tasks such as editing data and navigating large datasets, leading to workflow inefficiencies.
Additionally, the technical architecture required improvement to support real-time data across a national network of carriers and shippers, ensuring consistent performance on all screen sizes with a focus on responsiveness and UI clarity.
Capicua developed FR8Star's platform using React and MobX for state management, along with a dedicated Node layer to ensure real-time updates, an essential feature for a freight marketplace. AXIOS was used for API calls, and Azure provided reliable cloud infrastructure.
The UI, built with MaterialUI, features intuitive interactions, quick filters, and organized tables with a fixed info panel for improved usability. We implemented infinite scrolling in data tables, simplified data-saving processes, and used CSS and LOSTGRID to improve responsiveness across devices.

The rebuilt FR8Star platform significantly reduced friction for shippers and carriers, resulting in faster workflows and improved experiences. By eliminating the edit mode requirement and introducing infinite scrolling, common user actions became more efficient.
The fixed-panel design provided dispatchers with continuous access to essential information, enabling better decision-making without constant scrolling. Real-time state management ensured data accuracy across all elements.
